Thank You From Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania & West Virginia

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of Make-A-Wish, I want to thank you for forwarding additional proceeds from the Wheels For Wishes Campaign. We received $8,799.30 for the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter on June 21,2018. Your generosity enable us to make wishes come true, and when a wish comes true, it creates strength, hope and transformation to such amazing wish kids.

Life during the teen years presents challenges that most young girls and boys successfully navigate. These children worry about passing a test, winning a football game and connecting with friends. One such boy, 16-year-old Patrick, also had to worry about living with leukemia. Life as he had known it would change forever. Initially it was hard for him to come to grips with these sudden changes, but Patrick is a resilient and strong young man who was determined to face this challenge head-on. He decided to view this hurdle as just another obstacle to conquer.

After meeting with his Make-A-Wish volunteers, Patrick wished for a change to swim with dolphins. Patrick’s whole family has been affected by his illness, and he was looking for a way that would benefit them all. He has always viewed dolphins as magical creatures, so by giving his whole family the chance to interact with these sea creatures, he was hoping that they would all find inner peace as they saw him through his illness.

The time of waiting for his wish to become a reality became a time of looking forward. He knew this would be a trip of a lifetime, and these thoughts helped to keep his spirits up. His wish trip became more than he had ever dreamed and made an already close family even closer. Their shared memories are often recalled during times of the stress of waiting for medical test results. So far, Patrick has received encouraging news. We are happy to have traveled this journey with Patrick and his family as they look forward to a healthy future for their precious son and brother.
