Thank You From Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia
Dear Mr. Dorshow:
On behalf of Make-A-Wish, I want to thank you for forwarding additional proceeds from the Wheels for Wishes Campaign. On January 25, 2018, we received $7,370.47 (check #6686), for the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter. As required by the Internal Revenue Service, we confirm that you received no goods or services in exchange for your contribution.
When it comes to inner strength, sometimes we need look no further than a 15-year-adolescent with a passion for sports. Noah is a smart, kind, athletic boy whose life was playing out just as he had planned. He liked school, he had lots of friends, and, to the delight of his parents, his grades were pretty good, too. But then the unthinkable happened. He was diagnosed with cancer.
As a years-long member of two separate hockey leagues, Noah was used to putting in many hours a week on the ice. He was mentored by caring coaches, and his family loved watching him get better with every game. Now, all of this energy had to be diverted to fighting his cancer. Noah was determined to beat this new opponent with all of the fortitude and toughness that he takes to the hockey rink.
When Noah spoke with his Make-A-Wish volunteers, he wondered if it would be possible to meet a goal he has always had – to skate with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not only was it possible, but we were thrilled to throw in a few unexpected surprises as well.
Recently, Noah arrived in Pittsburgh ready to meet the Penguins. He was overjoyed to learn that not only would he meet his favorite team, but the Penguins were prepared to sign him as a player for a day. He signed a contract, received a uniform, was assigned a locker, and even fielded questions from reporters.
Noah’s time on the ice was unlike anything he had ever imagined. The confidence he felt while skating with these professional players is something that he will always remember. So, in the upcoming months, when it seems like his spirit and toughness are wavering, he’ll recall this confidence as he strives for a cancer-free future.
Thank you for partnering with us as we work to reach all children living with a critical illness in need of a wish-come-true.
Sincerely,
Judith Stone
