Dear Car Donation Foundation,

Thank you for your generous gift of $3,141.05 given 3/15/2019 to Shriners Hospitals for Children®, for its Salt Lake City location. Your generosity has made you a partner with our world-class medical staff in transforming the lives of children and their future. Your donation helps many patients like Lorien.

When Lorien was 13 years old and in middle school, she developed severe scoliosis, a disorder causing abnormal curvature of the spine. Lorien’s mother had excellent insurance and sought treatment immediately but found out her daughter’s disorder was considered and “pre-existing condition.” Without the assistance of insurance, the financial burden for care was overwhelming.

At that point, a friend referred them to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Salt Lake City. Shriners Hospitals welcomes patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay. This was just the break Lorien and her mother needed. After surgery, Lorien became an active swimmer. Today, she is fully grown with excellent posture. Lorien’s mother said, “I was a single mother at the time and would have had to sell our home to pay for this surgery. The staff and physicians were angels and we are forever grateful for their care.”
