Thank You From Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of Make-A-Wish, I want to thank you for forwarding additional proceeds from the Wheels For wishes Campaign. Today, we received $8,148.45, for the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter. As required by the IRS, we confirm that you received no goods or services in exchange for your contribution. Your generosity enables us to make wishes come true, and when a wish comes true, it creates strength, hope, and transformation.

Life during the teen years presents challenges that most young girls and boys successfully navigate. These children worry about passing a test, winning a football game and connecting with friends. On such a boy, 16-year-old Patrick was diagnosed with leukemia. Life as he had known it would change forever. Initially, it was hard for him to come to grips with these sudden changes, but Patrick is a resilient and strong boy who was determined to face this challenge head-on. He decided to view these hurdles as just another obstacle to resolve.

After meeting with his Make-A-Wish volunteers, Patrick wished for a chance to swim with dolphins. Patrick’s whole family has been affected by his illness, and he was looking for a way that would benefit them all. He has always viewed dolphins as magical creatures, so by giving his whole family the chance to interact with these sea creatures, he was hoping that they would all find inner peace as they saw him through his illness.

The time of waiting for his wish to become a reality became a time of looking forward. He knew this would be a trip of a lifetime, and these thoughts helped to keep his spirits up. His wish trip became more than he had ever dreamed. This trip took an already close family and made them even closer. Their shared memories are often recalled during times of the stress of waiting for test results. So far Patrick has received encouraging news.

We are happy to have traveled this journey with Patrick and his family as they all look forward to a healthy future for their precious son and brother.
