Thank You From Make-A-Wish® Illinois

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of all of us at Make-A-Wish® Illinois, I would like to thank Car Donation Foundation for your generous support to help make the wishes of courageous Illinois children come true. Your part in our mission is essential; together with you we have granted wishes to over 13,000 children with life-threatening conditions since 1985 – providing hope, strength and joy to deserving kids like Alexander.

When Alexander saw his new playset, he stopped in his tracks and stared up in wonder. With three swings, a climbing wall, picnic table, clubhouse and most important a curvy, yellow slide, this was a six-year-old boy’s dream. It didn’t take Alexander long to climb tall and proud to the top of his new fortress.

In July 2014 Alexander was diagnosed with leukemia, but this hasn’t stopped his desire to play outside. Alexander can commonly be found running around and playing games in his backyard, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. When asked about his one true wish, Alexander shared his hoped for his own magnificent playhouse – a perfect match for this active boy.

Last winter, despite the cold, local volunteers quickly came together to build the playset of Alexander’s dreams. And once it was done, Alexander got another surprise – a picnic with his family and friends to run, slide and swing.

For Alexander, his wish provided more than good memories of a joyful day. His playset continues to be a magical place, a temporary escape, and a reminder that no matter what hardships lie ahead he is always kind of his fort.

The ability to make these special wishes come true is only possible because of your generous support. With you by our side, we are entering into our 30th year of wish-granting in Illinois – and as we look to the years ahead, our vision has never been clearer: reaching every medically eligible child with a wish. We are so grateful for your support and we hope you will continue partnering with us as we Reach the Stars.
