Thank You Letters

Make-A-Wish® America

August 14, 2018

Dear Loren:

I am writing today to thank you for your organization’s incredible support of Make-A-Wish. To date, the Wheels for Wishes program has generated over $53 million for our enterprise, a financial milestone that translates into thousands of life-changing wishes for children across the United States.

I also want to extend my gratitude to your current board members, Matt Rosenberg, Anne Snow, Lee Orwig and Craig Siiro. Having worked with boards of directors for the majority of my career, I know that it is the tireless work and dedication of these volunteer leaders that makes all the difference for our organizations.

Finally, I would like to thank National Fundraising Management and its owners, Bill Bigley and Randy Heiligman. I had the privilege of touring their facility and was very impressed with their operation. They have become the gold standard in how to run a successful car donation program and I know they have been extremely instrumental in the success of Wheels for Wishes.

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Car Donation Foundation and Wheels for Wishes program and look forward to granting even more wishes thanks to your ongoing support.

In Partnership,

Loren,

I just wanted to share with you some of the pictures of the newest Fisher House that we just opened and dedicated with Vehicles For Veterans support. It is just the first of many houses that will bear your organizations name on them. Please share these with your board and anyone else who has help make these generous gifts possible, and so they can see the impact these gifts are helping to provide.

The Alaska House is our second Fisher Houses at Joint Base Elmendorf. It is a 16 bedroom house (to go along with the first house that is 8 bedrooms) with a double kitchen, dining room, sitting room, laundry room, and a space for the kids who stay at the house, and allows for up to 28 families nightly (between the 2 houses) a place to stay every night (the complex runs at a 98% occupancy rate through-out the year.)

So excited to see how the one in Dayton, Ohio comes out next!

Dear Loren,

On behalf of Operation Gratitude and the recipients of our care packages, I thank you for your generous donation of $69,060.98. Your contribution will enable us to send over 250,000 ‘chock full’ Care Packages this year to the tens of thousands of brave men and women still deployed overseas in harsh and remote areas; to their children anxiously awaiting their return; and to New Recruits, Veterans First Responders, Wounded Heroes and their Care Givers.

With the help of supporters nationwide since 2003, we have sent more than 2 Million Operation Gratitude Care Packages containing snacks, hygiene products, entertainment and hand-made items, and personal letters from appreciative Americans. These expressions of love and concern from fellow citizens offer our Military & First Responders a much-deserved “Thank You For Your Service” and are always greeted with enthusiasm and great appreciation.

As one Navy Sailor and New York Police Department Officer recently wrote:

“Every box, every piece of paper, every cloth, every book, every pen, every pencil, every notebook, every brush, every tooth paste, every shower gel , every puzzle, every magazine, every letter, every piece of candy…means a lot to us when we are away from home. It gives us Hope, Confidence, Happiness, Strength & Pride that somebody think about us, that someone is there for us. Thank You all. God Bless America.”

To read all the current letters of thanks from our troops and to see their photos with your Operation Gratitude care packages, please “Like” us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/OperationGratitude and “follow” us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/OpGratitude and Instagram: www.instagram.com/opgratitude/.

On December 9, 2017 we celebrated the delivery of our Two Millionth Care Package – all made possible by your support! I hope you’ll visit our Social Media sites to see pictures of the event!

Every single donation we receive furthers our mission of saying “Thank You” to those who serve. Many companies have matching gift programs that will match your donation, or maybe even double or triple it! Please check with your Human Resources/Personnel office to learn if your donation is eligible.

Tank you again for your thoughtfulness and wonderful patriotic spirit. The recipients of your generosity will remember your kindness forever. As a 20-year Marine and the new CEO of this amazing organization, I will always be appreciative of your support and encouragement for Operation Gratitude. You are truly making a difference!

Dear Mr. Dorshaw:

On behalf of all the courageous children we serve, we would like to sincerely thank you for your donation of $20,151.35 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of North Texas. Since the inception of the North Texas Chapter in 1982, we have granted over 10,000 wishes and are continually growing each year. Our wish is to someday reach every eligible child in our 161-county area in Texas.

We are very proud of the fact that no medically eligible child has ever been denied a wish request and this is a direct result of your generosity. With the ever-growing number of wish children across North Texas, your donation allows this tradition to continue.

A wish experience can give back what a life-threatening medical condition sometimes takes away-hope, strength and joy. Children are energized by their wish and the moments of magic provided by imagining, describing, planning and anticipating that one true wish are innumerable. The chance to forget about their condition for even a brief moment gives these children the innocence that has been lost in the wake of difficult circumstances. It gives them something to HOPE for. It gives them the STRENGTH needed to get through one more treatment. It gives them JOY that every child deserves. Families and doctors often tell us that a wish can encourage a child to see a future and make recovery a reality.

As one wish child Sam’s parents shared:

“As parents, we are overwhelmed to see the incredible people who so freely dedicate their time and passion to this cause.  Of course, anticipating Sam’s wish was tremendously therapeutic for all of us.  But it’s bigger than that. Being able to take a trip together meant that Sam can be just like any other six-year-old boy. And after what he’s been through, he’s earned the right to be normal for a little while”

Because of your continued generosity, North Texas children will experience the power of a wish®

Best “Wishes,”

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

I would like to thank you for your thoughtful contribution to Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee. Your gift of $6,620.54 was received on January 24, 2018 and will help make wishes come true for Middle Tennessee children who face critical illnesses.

For seriously ill children, the wonder and delight of childhood can seem lost in routines of doctors, hospitals, and pain. But we can turn that around, helping children think beyond the experience of illness by bringing their most heartfelt wish to life.

A wish gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together and unites communities. When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope.

Gabriella is a 6-year-old with Aplastic Anemia. Gabriella’s wish was to go to Walt Disney World Resort.  Support from donors like you made her wish a reality!

There are few experiences more powerful than making a wish come true. Thanks to your support, we are one step closer to creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Dear Car Donation Foundation, Natalie is a fourteen-year-old girl from

Wheatland who loves adventure and doesn’t let anything hold her back. She dreams of one day visiting all 50 states and one of her newly conquered frontiers was the state of Hawaii during her wish to go on a Hawaiian cruise.

Even before her trip began, Natalie and her family couldn’t stop smiling on their way to their hotel. She found sea turtles while snorkeling, walked along the beaches and zip lined through the forest. After several years in and out of hospitals Natalie’s wish trip gave her something to look forward to. Her mother described the wish as a “great dream [Natalie] wishes she didn’t have to wake up from.”

Thank you for your donation of $2,779.31 to Make-A-Wish® Wyoming on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

In Wyoming there are currently 33 wishes in progress across the region. It is because of your support and generosity that we are able to make wishes like Natalie’s a reality. Thank you for helping transform lives, one wish at a time.

January 26, 2018

Dear Mr. Dorshow:

Thank you for your support of Make-A-Wish® New Jersey with your gift of $49,871.29 received on 1/24/2018. Your generosity will help children in the Garden State with life-threatening medical conditions experience the life-changing power of a wish.

Children come to Make-A-Wish during what is perhaps one of the most frightening times in their lives. It’s a time when playing, learning, and laughing is all too often replaced with uncertainty. hospital visits, and medical treatments. With one question “If you could have one wish, what would it be?” – we reveal the imaginative possibilities of a wish and empower children to once again imagine and believe.  The wish granting process creates magical moments and memories that the children and their families can cherish.  Ultimately, a wish come true restores hope, renews strength and returns the joys of childhood.

That’s why your gift is so important.

With support from friends like you we have granted the fondest wishes of more than 9,000 children in New Jersey over the last 34 years. We rely on this generosity as we work to grant more wishes with the goal of reaching every medically eligible child in the Garden State.

Dear Mr. Dorshow:

As we begin 2018, your donation will help provide a brighter future for wish kids battling critical illnesses like 17-year-old Marquel.

Battling chronic kidney disease, Marque! receives dialysis several times a week and it’s easy for him to feel trapped. But one thing continues to inspire him through tough times – amazing nature photography.

“I see images of all the incredible places in the world, and I’m inspired to get out there and take my own pictures,” said Marquel, who wished to learn about nature photography in Hawaii.

Marque! enjoyed taking pictures at the beach, learning camera techniques, posing and angles with professional photographers. At the end of the week, Marquel’s photos were even displayed at his own surprise art show!

“This experience helped Marque! see that anything is possible,” says his mom, Natarsha. ” He is going to study art in college and his wish gave him skills that will continue to benefit him in his future. But more than that, now Marque! can see his disease isn’t a hindrance, but a way to let others know that nothing should stop you from achieving your dreams.”

We thank you for Wheels For Wishes gift of $10,071.65 from December 2017 proceeds of vehicle sales which we received on 01/24/2018.

Operation Homefront

January 18, 2017

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of Operation Homefront and the tens of thousands of military and veteran families we serve, I want to personally thank you for your generous gift of $48,619.38 on December 31 2016.

Your gift helps us fulfill our important mission: to build strong, stable and secure military families so that they may thrive in the communities that they have worked so hard to protect. Our vision is to be the provider of choice for military and veteran families when they have critical short- and long-term needs, and we couldn’t do this without you. Here are some highlights from 2015; we:

  • Increased our emergency assistance grants by 13 percent, allowing us to provide more than $4.8 million in critical short-term help in areas like rent, utilities and home repairs.
  • Provided rent and utility-free transitional housing and assistance to 48 wounded, ill and injured troops and their families at our 3 villages in San Diego, San Antonio and Gaithersburg, Maryland, helping them recover at our nation’s military and veteran hospitals with their families and with community support, and
  • Placed 138 families in mortgage-free homes through our Homes on the Homefront program, providing them with training and support to learn how to be successful homeowners.

You entrust us with your generous gift, and we are committed to using it efficiently and where it is needed most. I am proud to report that in 2015, 92% of Operation Homefront expenses went to programs that provide support to our nation’s military families. We recently received more good news from Charity Navigator, earning their prestigious 4-star rating for the 9th year in a row – an accomplishment only 1 percent of the charities they rate have achieved.

This is what your donation makes possible.

With gratitude,

Your continued support and many very generous gifts this year have allowed us to serve those who have done so much to serve all of us – our troops and their families! (Handwritten note at bottom of letter)

Dear Loren,

Thank you for your generous contribution of $7,134.09 to Wishes & More®, and for your loyal support! Your ongoing generosity to our humble Minnesota-based organization is so appreciated and makes you a part of the joy that a wish-come-true brings to the life of a child experiencing a life-threatening illness. Allow me to share Charley’s story with you.

At just 7 years old, endearing Charley underwent a heart transplant. During his recovery, he told Wishes & More that his number one wish was to visit Disney World. Of course, we complied, and Charley’s mother graciously presented us a precious scrapbook full of charming photos from their magical trip. She shared, “From the moment he purchased his ‘Stitch’ hat, it remained on his head throughout his trip!” Grandparents are also affected by how meaningful a wish can be and Charley’s grandmother verified this by sending us a beautiful note telling us she was moved to tears by all that was provided by Wishes & More and she poignantly stated, “Everyone should feel that totally loved, cared for, and blessed at least once in their lifetime.”

We can’t cure the children we serve and we can’t remove the heartache experienced by those that love them, but we can take their cares away for a while. We can make their fondest wish come true and involve their family in the joy of the extraordinary experience. Thank you for being part of our team enabling us to provide these experiences for kids like Charley.

Thanks again on behalf of Charley and his family, and all of us at Wishes & More.

Dear Mr. Dorshow:

This holiday season, your donation is helping to grant twice as many wishes for Arizona kids living with critical illnesses.

If you are a new donor or increased the amount of your gift this year, your generous contribution will be matched to help kids like 9-year-old Penelope, who wished to go to New York City during the holidays.

“Penelope fought so hard to be cancer free, and when her cancer came back even more aggressively it was the hardest thing we’ve ever had to go through,” said her mom, Perla. “But her wish changed everything.”

After only seeing New York City in books and movies, Penelope spent a week exploring The Big Apple and visiting landmarks like The Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the Bronx Zoo!

“I have not seen my daughter this happy in a long time,” said Perla. “We are so thankful, and her wish is something she will remember for the rest of her life.”

December 14, 2017

Dear Loren and Friends at Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of all of us here at Wishes & More®, thank you for your outstanding contribution of $3,448.46 to support our programming for kids struggling with a devastating condition. This month we are sharing Andrew’s story.

“Semper Fi” is generally associated with the US Marine Corp and means “always loyal.” Andrew, a 19-year-old with Lymphoma, had already expressed his loyalty by enlisting in the Marines while still a Senior in high school. He was following the footsteps of his dad and uncles and was devastated when cancer took away that dream.

When we met him, he talked about his strong interest in war history and how much he enjoyed creating digital art and playing video games. Wishes & More combined these interests into a great wish! We not only gave Andrew an Alienware laptop where he could play videos and design art, the presentation was an extra special surprise.

We invited him to a local video arcade to pick up his computer. He had no idea that the presentation was going to come from a group of active Marines who not only gave him this special gift, each one of them told him about a special battle involving the Marines and American war history. It didn’t end there, these military heroes spent the rest of the afternoon gaming with him at the arcade!

Andrew lost his battle with cancer in March, but we are infinitely grateful to members of the Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 for their support for going above and beyond duty for this young man. He didn’t technically “earn it” but he certainly deserved it: our virtual, 21-gun salute!

Thanks again on behalf of Andrew’s family, and all of us at Wishes & More.

Dear Loren,

I am delighted to accept your gift of $9,473.57. Your generosity strengthens our mission and transforms the lives of children in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada battling a life threatening medical condition.

When a wish is granted, it impacts the life of not only the wish child, but his or her entire family as well. Damian has an inherited blood disorder that causes little to no hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Because of this, Damian receives blood transfusion therapy every three weeks.

When given the opportunity to choose a special wish, Damian knew his most heartfelt wish was to go to Disney World. At Disney World, he envisioned meeting many characters like Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, and Peter Pan. He imagined sleeping in a hotel, swimming at the pool, meeting the superheroes he loves, and enjoying all of the rides, “but not the fast ones” he said. Damian was thrilled to have his wish granted and see everything he adores come to life!

“Damian had a great time. His favorite part of the wish was getting to fly on an airplane and meeting his favorite characters. He is doing really well now, it was wonderful.” -Samrane, Damian’s father.

For children like Damian, a wish uncovers a lasting hope that moves them beyond their medical condition and into a life of promise and possibility. Thank you for transforming lives, one wish child at a time.

Dear Friends:

You know that your donation of $12,620.77 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York and Western New York will help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human spirit with hope, strength and joy. Did you also know that wish experiences can be game-changers for critically ill kids?

In the words of one social worker who refers children to Make-A-Wish, “A wish heals the spirit it heals them throughout their journey …gives them hope that things can be better at some point, that life goes on beyond hospital walls and diagnostics.  “

Wishes are more than gifts or single moments in time. They impact everyone involved volunteers, medical professionals and valued partners like you. For wish kids, just the experience of their wish come-true can give them the courage to follow through with medical treatments, and they and their parents can enjoy a renewed sense of hope.

To share in the moments you’re making possible, learn about local activities and more, please visit metrony.wish.org.

Your compassion and generosity mean a lot to us.  Thank you for making a difference and helping us to be here for every eligible child.

As the weather grows colder, your donation will continue to warm the hearts of many wish kids and their families living with critical illnesses his holiday season.

Kids like 10-year-old Joseph, whose wish to visit Alaska helped him defeat his cancer.

Joseph, who has endured surgery to remove three brain tumors, needed to relearn to walk while receiving difficult chemotherapy treatments. His wish to see the Northern Lights gave him something to look forward to and a reason to fight.

“Did my wish help me while I was in the hospital? Capital Y E-S!” says Joseph.

Now cancer-free, Joseph not only saw the Northern Lights during his wish, but also had the chance to visit Santa Claus’ workshop and to try dog sledding for the first time.

This donation will help grant the wish of George, a 9 year-old from Westhampton who was diagnosed with Renal Disease. His wish is to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with his family. Wishes like this are possible thanks to the support of donors like you!

The Suffolk County chapter grants an average of 115 wishes to children each year.  Your generosity, combined with the support of others, allows us to bring magic to the lives of local children who are facing life-threatening illnesses.

Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia

November 21, 2017

Dear Mr. Dorshow:

On behalf of Make-A-Wish, I want to thank you for forwarding additional proceeds from the Wheels for Wishes Campaign. Today, we received $13,654.80 (check #6544), for the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter. As required by the Internal Revenue Service, we confirm that you received no goods or services in exchange for your contribution.

We are very grateful for your generosity as we continue to reach children living with critical illnesses and offer them a chance to have their fondest wish come true. One of these children is six-year-old Elizabeth who is a big fan of the Disney princesses. She asked if she could meet these princesses in Disney World, and of course we were happy to fulfill her magical wish.

Elizabeth and her family traveled to sunny Florida with an itinerary packed full of fun. While there, she and her family stayed at Give Kids the World Village, a beautiful resort designed especially for sick kids. Located just outside the Disney complex, the spacious villas are surrounded by a fishing pond, play areas, a wheelchair accessible swimming pool, a gingerbread house restaurant and a golden carousel.

Elizabeth received all sorts of wonderful amenities at Disney World including breakfast with the Disney characters, park-hopper tickets, and a special pass that allowed her to advance to the front of the line for her favorite rides. She was thrilled when she finally met Cinderella, Aurora, and Belle. Her family was especially thrilled because it had been a very long time since they had seen her so happy, seemingly without a care in the world.

The effects of a wish experience last so much longer than the wish itself. The ripples of joy, strength, hope and determination follow these amazing children throughout their whole lives. We are very happy to have a hand in their future and remain most grateful to our generous donors.

Sincerely,

Judith Stone

Mr. Loren H. Dorshow

Car Donation Foundation

5775 Wayzata Blvd, Ste 700 St Louis Park, MN 55416

Dear Mr. Dorshow:

Kids should only have to worry about things like picking dodgeball teams, or which friends to invite to birthday parties. But life isn’t that simple.

The kids at Phoenix Children’s Hospital are dealing with ‘adult-sized’ situations. A hospital is the last place a kid wants to be – but when a child needs medical care, parents want the very best. Here, we treat more than 160,000 patients every year, because children have vastly different needs than adults.

Please accept our gratitude for Car Donation Foundation’s donation of $896.00. Generous donors such as you ensure our staff is better equipped with the expertise, cutting edge technology and equipment they need to save countless lives. Jemma is just one of many patients thankful for how a gift like yours made a difference in her life.

Not long after she was born, Jemma had difficulty breathing and was rushed to the emergency room. A pediatric cardiologist gave her family hard news – Jemma was born with just half of her tiny newborn heart.

A series of open heart surgeries was her only hope for survival. Prior to her first operation, several images were taken of Jemma’s heart. Expert physicians used 30 printing technology and constructed a model of her tiny heart they could hold and explore. This emerging technology, funded by philanthropy, enabled Jemma’s physicians to become familiar with her physiology before ever stepping foot into the operating room. Prior to her first surgery, Jemma’s surgeons could show her family exactly what was wrong and how they were going to fix it.

Today, Jemma is the fastest swimmer in her family. Stories like hers showcase the real impact of donations made by donors like you. Thank you for your generous investment.

Operation Homefront

January 17, 2018

Dear Loren,

On behalf of Operation Homefront and the tens of thousands of military and veteran families we serve, I want to personally thank you for your generous gift of $74,818.64 on December 26, 2017.

Your gift helps us fulfill our important mission: to build strong, stable and secure military families, so that they can thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Our vision is to be the provider of choice for short-term and critical assistance, long term stability, and recurring support programs for military families, and we couldn’t do this without you. Here are some highlights from 2016:

  • We were able to provide more than 2,100 military families with more than $3.7 million in critical short-term help in areas like rent, utilities and home repairs;
  • We provided rent and utility-free transitional housing and assistance to 108 wounded, ill and injured troops and their families at our 3 villages in San Diego, San Antonio and Gaithersburg, Maryland, helping them recover at our nation’s military and veteran hospitals with their families and with community support;
  • We placed 121 families in mortgage-free homes through our Homes on the Homefront program, providing them with training and support to learn how to be successful home owners.

You have entrusted us with your generous gift, and we are committed to using it efficiently and where it is needed most. I am proud to report that in 2016, 92% of Operation Homefront expenses went to programs that provide support to our nation’s military families. We also received the prestigious 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the 10th year in a row – an accomplishment only 1 percent of the charities they rate have achieved.

This is what your donation makes possible.

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

Happy New Year! Your contributions at the end of 2016 was a very much appreciated surprise. Since you began supporting our organization last summer you have become the largest MN contributor to our mission in 2016.

While we are based in MN, we operate nationwide and have not had the benefit of a strong, local MN based financial supporter. You contribution in December supports our ongoing operation in all the states from which the support was derived. We provide air transportation to post 9/11 combat wounded for medical and other compassionate purposes in all 50 states.

We could not be more pleased than to have a MN foundation recognize and support our work around the country.

Thank you for your confidence and continued encouragement.

We appreciate you… as do those we serve.

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

Thank you or Car Donation Foundation’s recent contribution of $8,440.88 to Intermountain Healthcare Foundation in recognition of the good work being done for children in our area at Primary Children’s Hospital. We are truly grateful for your generosity!

May 5, 2016

Dear Car Donation Foundation:

Your donation matters. This year more than 150,000 children will be living proof of that.

More than 2,500 of them will be brought to our Trauma Center, many with life-threating injuries. Some patients will need ongoing treatment for chronic diseases, while more than 300 of them will learn they have cancer. More than 16,500 will need surgery, and another 85,000 will come through the doors of our Emergency Department. Some patients will need a life-saving transplant. Others may need life-changing treatment of therapy.

Every patient has a different story. What they all have in common is that they get world-class care at Phoenix Children’s, and you help make the possible. Thank you for Car Donation Foundation’s generous gift of $52,233.17.

Would-class care means having physicians who specialize in even the rarest of diseases. It means having the most up-to-date technology, participates in innovative research the helps us find answers, and leading the way when it comes to treatment of hundreds of diseases, disorders and injuries. These are just some of the ways donations to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation help our patients- ways you have helped a child.

But children also have unique needs. That’s why our staff is dedicated solely to children, and why we offer the services that make their stay here easier; a school, our Child Life Zone, pet therapy, a family health library, camps, and child life philanthropy, and more reasons why your donation maters.

We couldn’t do what we do without you. Our patients deserve the very best. We wouldn’t have it any other way, and we know you wouldn’t either. For that we are sincerely grateful.

Sincerely,

Make-A-Wish® Illinois

April 27, 2016

Dear Car Donation Foundation,

On behalf of all of us at Make-A-Wish® Illinois, I would like to thank Car Donation Foundation for your generous support to help make the wishes of courageous Illinois children come true. Your part in our mission is essential; together with you we have granted wishes to over 13,000 children with life-threatening conditions since 1985 – providing hope, strength and joy to deserving kids like Alexander.

When Alexander saw his new playset, he stopped in his tracks and stared up in wonder. With three swings, a climbing wall, picnic table, clubhouse and most important a curvy, yellow slide, this was a six-year-old boy’s dream. It didn’t take Alexander long to climb tall and proud to the top of his new fortress.

In July 2014 Alexander was diagnosed with leukemia, but this hasn’t stopped his desire to play outside. Alexander can commonly be found running around and playing games in his backyard, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. When asked about his one true wish, Alexander shared his hoped for his own magnificent playhouse – a perfect match for this active boy.

Last winter, despite the cold, local volunteers quickly came together to build the playset of Alexander’s dreams. And once it was done, Alexander got another surprise – a picnic with his family and friends to run, slide and swing.

For Alexander, his wish provided more than good memories of a joyful day. His playset continues to be a magical place, a temporary escape, and a reminder that no matter what hardships lie ahead he is always kind of his fort.

The ability to make these special wishes come true is only possible because of your generous support. With you by our side, we are entering into our 30th year of wish-granting in Illinois – and as we look to the years ahead, our vision has never been clearer: reaching every medically eligible child with a wish. We are so grateful for your support and we hope you will continue partnering with us as we Reach the Stars.

Very truly yours,

Stephanie Springs

Thank you for helping make wishes come true for children and teenagers with critical illnesses in the 518 and 838 area codes!

Your recent gift of $4,436 to support Wheels for Wishes directly helps us to grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions each year, like Evelyn. Though Evelyn suffers from a nervous system disease and is non-verbal, she is a vibrant 11-year-old with a passion for movies (especially Frozen)!

Thanks to wonderful donors like you, Evelyn’s wish to visit Walt Disney World® Resort came true and she was able to meet all of her favorite characters from Frozen! Because of her love of music, she also enjoyed a special concert and dinner at the Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue. The magical experience of her trip was furthered enhanced with the firework displays and Disney character parades at Magic Kingdom.

Evelyns’ experience has provided her with amazing memories that she will never forget. But none of this would have been possible without your charitable gift. Noah is a smart, kind, athletic boy whose life was playing out just as he had planned. He liked school, he had lots of friends, and, to the delight of his parents, his grades were pretty good, too. But then the unthinkable happened. He was diagnosed with cancer.

As a years-long member of two separate hockey leagues, Noah was used to putting in many hours a week on the ice. He was mentored by caring coaches, and his family loved watching him get better with every game. Now, all of this energy had to be diverted to fighting his cancer. Noah was determined to beat this new opponent with all of the fortitude and toughness that he takes to the hockey rink.

When Noah spoke with his Make-A-Wish volunteers, he wondered if it would be possible to meet a goal he has always had – to skate with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not only was it possible, but we were thrilled to throw in a few unexpected surprises as well.

Recently, Noah arrived in Pittsburgh ready to meet the Penguins. He was overjoyed to learn that not only would he meet his favorite team, but the Penguins were prepared to sign him as a player for a day. He signed a contract, received a uniform, was assigned a locker, and even fielded questions from reporters.

Noah’s time on the ice was unlike anything he had ever imagined. The confidence he felt while skating with these professional players is something that he will always remember. So, in the upcoming months, when it seems like his spirit and toughness are wavering, he’ll recall this confidence as he strives for a cancer-free future.

Thank you for partnering with us as we work to reach all children living with a critical illness in need of a wish-come-true.

Sincerely,

Judith Stone

Dear Loren:

Every day, 72 children are diagnosed with a critical illness.

“Because of Jax’s heart disease we have to tell him ‘no’ a lot. He has a lot of restrictions placed on him that are not easy for him to understand and cope with. Having a putting green in his backyard is something that we never have to tell him ‘no’ about. It gives him something to look forward to. There are mornings he wakes up and heads straight out to his putting green to play. Even before school sometimes he is out there. He can still develop social skills and build friendships by inviting his friends to his- house to play golf with him. It is not only keeping him safe but it is building confidence, friendships, and social skills.”

“She was able to have an experience that otherwise our family wouldn’t have been able to afford to give her. She had a blast and finally got to meet her favorite characters and the princesses.”

Your gift of $7,223.14 received on 12/27/2017 makes it possible for Make-A-Wish® Iowa to continue granting life-changing wishes and for you to be part of the community making a difference in the lives of critically ill children and their families. Thank You!

Best Wishes,

Make-A-Wish® North Texas

Dear Mr. Dorshaw:

On behalf of all the courageous children we serve, we would like to sincerely thank you for your donation of $11,697.64 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of North Texas. Since the inception of the North Texas Chapter in 1982, we have granted more than 9,500 wishes and are continually growing each year.

Make-A-Wish® Metro New York and Western New York

Dear Friends:

You know that your donation of $3,597.20 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York and Western New York will help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human spirit with hope, strength and joy. Did you also know that wish experiences can be game-changers for critically ill kids?

In the words of one social worker who refers children to Make-A-Wish, “A wish heals the spirit – it heals them throughout their journey… gives them hope that things can be better at some point, that life goes on beyond hospital walls and diagnostics.”

Wishes are more than gifts or single moments in time. They impact everyone involved – volunteers, medical professionals and valued partners like you. For wish kids, just the experience of their wish come-true can give them the courage to follow through with medical treatments, and they and their parents can enjoy a renewed sense of hope.

Your compassion and generosity mean a lot to us.  Thank you for making a difference and helping us to be here for every eligible child.

Best wishes,

Dear Loren,

I am delighted to accept your gift of $8,532.27. Your generosity strengthens our mission and transforms the lives of children in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada battling a life threatening medical condition.

A wish creates an opportunity for hope and the ability to experience life beyond illness. Seven year-old Maleree went in for a routine eye exam that resulted in the unforeseen diagnosis of a stage 4 astrocytoma tumor. Her tumor was extracted shortly after her diagnosis, and she underwent localized radiation therapy following her surgery.

When given the opportunity to choose a special wish, Maleree knew her most heartfelt wish was to go on a Disney cruise. Due to her love for Disney, water sports, and boats, a cruise seemed like the ideal wish to Maleree. She spent her cruise days swimming in the pool and going on waterslides, as well as meeting her favorite princess characters while aboard. The cruise was an opportunity for her to spend some time in the warm sun, and experience child-like wonder once again.

“Everything about her wish was absolutely amazing. Maleree was treated like a royal princess from the moment we arrived at the airport, to the moment we returned home.” – Jodi, Maleree’s mother.

For children like Maleree, a wish reintroduces magic and wonder back into their life, resulting in the child benefiting from two wishes coming true: the wish they make, and the wish to be a child again. Thank you for giving the gift of hope, one wish child at a time.

Sincerely,

Make-A-Wish® Northeast New York

Dear Loren Dorshow,

Thank you for helping make wishes come true for critically ill children in our region!

Your recent gift of $4,111 to support Wheels for Wishes helps us to grant wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions each year who live within our fifteen-county region that covers the 518 and 838 area codes. This includes children like Ainsley, a vibrant and energetic four-year-old diagnosed with cancer as a toddler.

Ainsley’s wish was to visit Walt Disney World and meet all of her favorite characters, like Minnie Mouse and Cinderella. She enjoyed her time exploring Disney World with her parents and older sister Avalon. She loved the thrill of the rides, getting character autographs, and watching parades and fireworks.

None of the wonder and excitement of Ainsley’s wish could have happened without the wonderful generosity of donors like you. Ainsley and her family enjoyed a worry-free week in sunny Florida where their time spent as a family provided a special healing all its own. On behalf of Ainsley, and all of our Wish Kids this year, I thank you for your generosity and your commitment  to making wishes come true  for critically ill children and teens.

Gratefully,

Brian V. Hannafin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees
